Safety is more than a policy–it’s our #1 priority in everything we do. As stewards of goods and community, we implement the highest standards of safety to protect our people, products, and customers at every touchpoint.
The security of your supply chain is integral to the success of your business. Safe warehouse environments, efficient fulfillment processes, and reliable transportation practices minimize risk of product damage and other disruptions, lowering costs and ensuring a smooth experience for your customers. A true partner that keeps your supply chain safe means a credible reputation that current and prospective customers respect.
Our strong record of protecting employees, customers, and communities from accidents is no accident. It’s the result of establishing meticulous safety protocols at each stage of our operations over the past six decades. Because the repetitive nature of warehouse work lends itself to safety and injury risks, we take special care to address potential issues before they become actual incidents.
Beyond strict adherence to all national and industry-specific regulations, we have an exhaustive regimen in place to ensure safety across all operations:
Our commitment to safety starts at the ground level with daily LEAN Meetings. During these morning sessions, team members keep each other vigilant by sharing recent observations and safety reminders. Supervisors delve deeper during dedicated safety meetings, setting aside time for continuous training based on timely needs or planned conversations. Finally, our commitment extends across all locations through Safety Committee Meetings. Here, management and supervisors exchange best practices, review near-misses for improvement, and ensure our high safety standards are consistently met.
We have several procedures in place to gather data and assess individual performance across various safety categories including general awareness, job execution, equipment, and housekeeping. We also regularly review Near Miss Reports–physical cards submitted by employees whenever an observation of risk occurs. Additionally, our partnership with Risk Consultants of America allows us to proactively confirm we’re meeting industry standards by conducting mock OSHA safety audits, and prepare for new business opportunities by conducting safety analyses.
Clients who operate in highly regulated industries often receive revised best practices in response to global safety incidents, which we closely monitor and review. Additionally, we immerse ourselves in client policies and present quarterly safety reports summarizing any safety incidents and subsequent updates related to their product.
“If we stay ready, we don’t have to get ready.”
Led by our Safety Committee, we rehearse and refine procedures for responding to a variety of emergency events. This includes adverse weather plans informed by OSHA and state guidelines, as well as topical drills such as active shooter training for a heightened sense of security amongst our team.
If a safety incident occurs, we have a five-step procedure in place to guarantee thorough review including internal and external notifications, collection of photos and accounts, root cause assessments, official accident reporting, and the implementation of corrective actions. Additionally, the SMARTDrive® system equipped in our trucking fleet provides real-time reports to prevent one-time mistakes from becoming recurring problems.
We attend safety conferences to stay mindful of industry best practices. Whether they’re supply chain-specific or scaled for multi-industry, our team recognizes the value of engaging in active conversations around the latest techniques that could benefit those we serve.
For some in logistics, safety is just a checkbox. For the Wilson Warehouse family of brands, safety is the foundation of our approach to every supply chain challenge. We move as an extension of your operations, pulling from decades of experience and proven processes to identify and prevent issues.
